How Credits Work
Everything you need to know about free scans, paid credits, and expiration.
1. Free daily scans
- Every signed-in account receives 1 free scan per day.
- The counter resets each day at 00:00 UTC.
- Unused free scans do not roll over to the next day.
- You don't need to buy anything to use the Service — the free tier is permanent.
2. How a scan consumes a credit
The Service is built around a simple rule: you only pay for results that worked.
- A successful identification (we returned a reciter match) consumes exactly 1 unit.
- A failed scan (no match, audio too short, network error, server error) consumes 0 units. You are never charged for a result we couldn't deliver.
- Re-trying the same recording counts as a new scan if it succeeds.
3. Free scans are used first
When you perform a successful identification, the system always draws from your free daily allowance first, and only touches purchased credits once the daily 3 are gone.
This means:
- If you scan twice on a given day, both come from your free quota — your purchased credit balance is untouched.
- On a heavy day, your first 3 successful scans are free; the 4th onward consumes 1 purchased credit each.
- You cannot "save" a free scan for later — only the daily counter exists, not a per-scan token.
4. Buying credit packs
- Credits are sold in one-off packs (currently 50 or 200 credits) via Gumroad.
- There are no subscriptions and nothing to cancel.
- After checkout, Gumroad notifies us via webhook and your balance is updated automatically — usually within seconds.
- Multiple packs stack. Each pack carries its own 365-day validity window from its purchase date.
5. Expiration: the 365-day rule
Purchased credits are valid for 365 days from the date of purchase. When credits from a pack expire:
- The expired credits are removed from your balance automatically.
- Your account stays active and you keep your 1 free daily scan forever.
- Credits from other, still-valid packs are unaffected — only the specific expired pack is cleared.
- Credits are spent oldest-first, so packs closest to expiration are always used before fresher ones. In practice, active users rarely lose credits to expiration.
6. Checking your balance
Your remaining free scans for today and your purchased credit balance are both shown at the top of the home screen, just below the header. A "Top up" button appears automatically when both reach zero.
7. Refunds
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on credit packs. See the full Refund Policy for details on partially-used packs and how to request a refund through Gumroad.
