RecitID hits ~94% accuracy on clear recordings of any of the 200+ indexed reciters. Background noise, low volume, very short clips, or unusual tajweed lower accuracy. Precise Mode runs a deeper second AI pass for tough cases and adds 10–20 seconds of processing.

How many reciters does RecitID support?

What if my reciter isn't in the database?

RecitID returns the closest voice match plus a confidence score. If the score is low, the reciter likely isn't indexed yet. You can submit a correction with the right name; we use corrections to add and retrain on missing qaris.

Does RecitID work for different qira'at?

Accepted Answer

Hafs an Asim is the default and best-supported qira'a. Warsh, Qalun, and other qira'at work but with reduced accuracy because the indexed corpus is smaller. We're actively expanding non-Hafs coverage.

What is Precise Mode?

Precise Mode runs a deeper second AI pass when the standard match is uncertain. It takes 10–20 seconds instead of 3–10 and significantly improves accuracy on noisy or short recordings. Each Precise Mode scan uses one credit from your pack.

Is my audio recording stored?

Audio is processed only to generate your match. For guests, nothing is retained. For signed-in users, the resulting match (qari, Surah, ayah) is saved to your history, but the raw audio is discarded after processing unless you explicitly opt in to share it for AI improvement.

Do you share or sell my data?

Never. RecitID does not sell user data, share recordings with advertisers, or use your audio to train third-party models. Audio is processed by our identification backend only and discarded immediately after.

How do I delete my account and history?

Sign in, open Profile, and tap 'Delete account'. This permanently removes your account, scan history, and any saved corrections within 30 days. You can also delete individual scans from the History page at any time.

Why does RecitID need microphone access?

RecitID identifies recitation from live audio, so the browser needs microphone permission to record. Permission is requested only when you tap the mic button, and the recording stops automatically after up to 18 seconds. You can revoke access in browser settings any time.

Every user gets 1 free standard-mode scan every 24 hours, forever — no subscription, no card required. Free scans include the full reciter + Surah + ayah result. Precise Mode and unlimited daily scans require credits.

Credit packs start at $5 for a starter pack and scale up for heavier use. Credits last 365 days from purchase, never expire mid-use, and include both standard and Precise Mode scans. There's no subscription — pay only for what you need.

No. RecitID is fully pay-as-you-go. We chose credits over subscriptions so you're never charged for a month you didn't use. Buy a pack when you need it, use it whenever — no auto-renewal, no recurring charges.

Can I use Shazam to identify Quran recitation?

Not reliably. Shazam indexes commercial music, not Quran recitation. It might catch a famous studio mushaf recording but won't return the Surah or ayah and fails on live or live-streamed recitation. RecitID is purpose-built for Quran recognition.

What's the difference between RecitID and Tarteel?

Tarteel is an AI hifz coach — it listens while you recite from memory and corrects mistakes. RecitID listens to someone else's recitation and identifies the qari, Surah, and ayah. Different jobs; many serious students use both.

Does RecitID replace Quran.com?

No — they solve different problems. Quran.com is the reference Mushaf reader with translations and tafsir. RecitID identifies who is reciting and what ayah from any audio. Use Quran.com to read; use RecitID to identify.

RecitID extracts acoustic fingerprints from your recording, matches them against a database of 200+ qaris and the full Mushaf, then verifies the top candidate with an AI model. The two-stage approach combines fast fingerprint search with deeper verification for accuracy.

Stage one is acoustic fingerprinting — a fast similarity search across thousands of indexed recitations. Stage two is an AI model that re-checks the top candidates against the audio to filter out coincidental matches. Precise Mode adds a third pass for tough cases.

Recording works offline because it happens in the browser. Identification needs an internet connection because matching runs on the AI backend. Fully offline matching is on the roadmap but not available today.
